Shape, cuticle work, buff, polish. The base every other service is built on.
Spa pedicure
Soak, file, callus work, massage, polish. Allow yourself the longer chair.
Gel
Cured under the lamp, dry when you stand up. Removal done properly, not scraped.
Dip powder
Colour built in layers for people who are hard on their hands.
Acrylic
Full sets, fills, repairs. Length and shape agreed before anything is applied.
Nail art
Freehand, chrome, french, ombre. Bring a photo or pick a number off the card.
Waxing
Brow, lip, and facial waxing while you are in the chair.

Finishes, shapes and lengths we build regularly. Bring one of these in on your phone and we will work from it.
Shapes, drawn to scale
Point at one of these at the table and we will both know exactly what we mean. Shape is decided before any color goes near the brush.
Square
Flat across the top with hard corners. Strongest edge, least forgiving if you type all day.
Squoval
A square with the corners taken off. The most requested shape in the shop and the easiest to maintain.
Round
Follows the natural fingertip. Good on short nails and on hands that work.
Almond
Tapered to a soft point. Needs a little length to read properly.
Coffin
Tapered sides, flat tip. Usually built with acrylic or a hard gel.
Stiletto
A sharp point. The most dramatic and the one that asks the most of you.

Give it ten minutes
Gel is dry when you stand up. Regular lacquer is not. Sit with it before you go digging for keys.

Oil the cuticle nightly
One drop, rubbed in. This does more for how a set ages than anything else on this list.

Gloves for dishes and cleaning
Hot water and household chemicals lift the edge first. Gloves buy you another week.

Do not use them as tools
Boxes, staples and car doors are what take a corner off. Use a key, not a nail.

Come in for removal
Picking gel or dip off takes the top layer of your natural nail with it. Soaking it off takes fifteen minutes.
A lifted edge or a cracked tip is a repair, not a full new set. Call before you pull anything off yourself.

What we would rather you judge us on is the thing in front of you. Ask to see the tools before they touch your hands. Ask what gets replaced between clients and what gets cleaned. Watch a set get built at the next table and see whether the edges are straight and the cuticle line is clean.
Any salon worth your time will answer those questions without flinching. That is the standard we are working to hold, chair by chair, and it is the only one that shows up on your hands two weeks later.
